When I first heard Empire States of Mind by Jay-Z, i recalled where i'm originated from,a small town called Kuantan. Every country in this world has its own big city, like America with it's NY, and Malaysia with its KL. When im still living in Kuantan,i used to think how dead the town was, and I aspired to go to KL where I believe that everything is sweet and bright, without realizing that everything that exists got its other side that I never think of.
Ambitions drive people to this cities. It's the centre of opportunity and pinnacle of successes. Stories about how people become The Man or The Lady at the these cities give one big, clear picture: Success awaits you here. But is it true? How many people become a made men in NY/KL and how many that failed and end up as waiter or salesperson at some shops. How many chose the dark path(illegal) to become rich in a short time, failing to compete with others in the right path(legal). Social securities start to become a big problem with the surge of opportunity seekers as 7/10(that's my own made-up figures. Don't take it seriously) failed but chose not to leave and gamble with their luck. Price start to hike up and big figures wage means nothing anymore. The healthy competition starts to become a survival of the fittest and society start taking its toll and heading down the drain. My brother chose a peaceful life, same goes to my sister and my parents(basically, my whole family is leaving me here) and the only reason why i'm planning to stay is because of the city's colors.
